Intelligent Vulnerability Monitoring is provided by the Automated Vulnerability Detection System (AVDS) solution from MSC which guarantees risk reduction through vulnerability management of IP devices, from one administration console. Every node is tested, without any network down-time; the IP range is defined by the customer. New security alerts are added to the test list daily, with a current database of over 10,000 vulnerabilities.

Benefits

  • Tests are automated and all new equipment, ports and applications added to the company network are scanned automatically as standard, solutions are provided to mitigate any flaw discovered. Scans can be performed immediately upon request.
  • The test can be performed over multiple networks, business units, or even countries on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. Quarterly PCI rating is also available.
  • AVDS determines the most vulnerable IPs and which patches, solutions or workarounds need to be installed to improve security. An automatic scan is performed after implementation to verify that compliances have then been met.
  • AVDS complements both anti-virus software and existing firewalls by revealing vulnerabilities or potential exploitation points in or outside the 'security shield'. It enables customers to meet policy requirements, secure against data loss and exceed industry security standards, whilst also meeting PCI-DSS, SOX, HIPAA compliance regulations.
  • AVDS provides access or permissions for your customers and partners, which you define. Reporting is on 3 different levels, whether company-wide or locally based, providing the most relevant detail.

Potential network vulnerability points:

  • If the operating system or network applications have been poorly coded, this leaves them vulnerable to exploitation.
  • If an infection is already within the system, it provides the hacker with unauthorized access to the network and therefore confidential data.
  • If the system has been misconfigured and, for example default passwords are still being used, this can leave the network unnecessarily exposed.
